Earn Money with Paid To Click PTC

With paid to click PTC concept, you earn money for browsing websites (sponsored sites); there are other concepts like paid to surf, paid to view and paid to search. Frankly speaking, these sites are big time wasters because the amount they pay is very little comparing to the time you spend for each unit of ad. One of the popular PTC site where you can earn good amount of money is Bux.to.

Earnings Example
You click 10 ads per day = $0.10
20 referrals click 10 ads per day = $2.00
Your daily earnings = $2.10
Your weekly earnings = $14.70
Your monthly earnings = $63.00

15 Popular Blog Sidebar Items

What to Put in Your Blog's Sidebar

1. About Link or a Short Bio

The sidebar is a great place to establish who you are, so visitors will immediately understand your level of expertise or interest in your blog's topic. You can do this through a link to your "About Me" page or a short bio that displays on your sidebar.

2. Your Picture

To further establish who you are as a blogger (particularly if you're trying to establish yourself as an expert in your field through your blog), it can be helpful to include your picture in your sidebar along with a link to your "About" page or short bio. Adding your picture also helps to personalize your blog. Remember, successful bloggers create a relationship with their readers. A picture can help strengthen your relationship with your readers.

3. Contact Information

Including your contact information on your blog's sidebar is particularly useful for bloggers who use their blogs to generate business. If your blog is a sales tool, then you should make it as easy as possible for visitors to contact you.

4. Blogroll

One of the most important things you can put in your blog's sidebar is a blogroll. Your blogroll helps to promote your blog through networking with like-minded bloggers.

5. Links to Your Other Blogs or Websites

Your sidebar provides many ways you can further promote your other blogs, websites or online businesses. In addition to a traditional blogroll, you can add links to your other blogs and websites in your sidebar.

6. List of Categories

To make it easy for your blog readers to find your old content, it's important to create categories to archive your posts and include links to those categories in your sidebar.

7. Links to Archives by Date

Another way to make it easy for your readers to find old content on your blog is through links to your archives (typically listed by month) in your sidebar.

8. Recent Posts Links

Make it easy for your readers to find your recent blog posts by including a list of links to those posts in your sidebar. This is a great way to encourage additional page views and keep visitors on your blog longer.

Similar to including recent post links in your sidebar, you can also include recent comment links. Including recent comment links in your sidebar can encourage conversation.

10. Popular Posts Links

Your sidebar is a great place to display links to your popular (highly trafficked or highly commented) posts. People will see those links and want to read those posts to see why they are so popular.

12. Search Box

Make it easy for your readers to find old content through keyword searches by putting a search box in your sidebar.

13. Advertisements

Your sidebar can hold a lot of ads such as Google AdSense, Amazon Associate ads, direct banner ads and more. Don't overload your sidebar with ads, but do take advantage of the revenue-generating opportunities that your sidebar presents by including some ads on it.

14. Donations Button

While a donation button might not bring in a lot of money to your blog, it's very common for bloggers to include them in their sidebars with the hope that someone will make a donation one day.

15. Social Web Links and Feeds

Many bloggers use their sidebar as a way to promote their various social networking and social bookmarking activities. For example, you might want to include links to your Facebook, LinkedIn, Digg or other account profiles in your blog's sidebar, or you may want to include your Twitter feed in your sidebar

5 Tips to Write Blog Posts

How to Write Posts that Get Noticed and Keep Readers Interested

1. Choose the Appropriate Tone for Your Blog

Every blog has a target audience it's written for. Before you start writing blog posts, determine who your primary and secondary audiences will be. Who will want to read your blog and why? Are they seeking professional information and discussions or fun and laughter? Identify not only your goals for your blog but also your audience's expectations for it. Then decide what tone would be most appropriate for your blog, and write in that tone and style consistently.

2. Be Honest

Blogs that are written in an honest voice and truly show who the writer is are often the most popular. Remember, a critical component to a blog's success is the community that develops around it. Represent yourself and your content honestly and openly and reader loyalty will undoubtedly grow.

3. Don't Just List Links

Blogging is time-consuming, and sometimes it can be very tempting to just list links to other online content for your readers to follow. Don't fall into that trap. Readers don't want to have to follow a breadcrumb trail to find something interesting to read. In fact, they might find they like where you lead them more than they like your blog. Instead, give readers a reason to stay on your blog by providing links with your own synopsis and point of view about the content of those links. Remember, a link without context is a simple way to lose readers rather than retain them.

4. Provide Attribution

Don't risk being accused of violating copyrights, plagiarism or stealing content from another blog or website. If you found information on another blog or website that you want to discuss on your blog make sure you provide a link back to the original source.

5. Write in Short Paragraphs

The visual appeal of your blog's content can be just as important as the content itself. Write your blog posts in short paragraphs (no more than 2-3 sentences is a safe rule) to provide visual relief from a text heavy web page. Most readers will skim a blog post or web page before committing to read it in its entirety. Text heavy web pages and blog posts can be overwhelming to readers while pages with a lot of white space are easier to skim and more likely to keep readers on the page (or to encourage them to link deeper into the site).

How to Create Web Traffic by Commenting on Blogs

Commenting on other blogs is one of the best ways to get targeted traffic to your website or blog. This is where you identify a blog in your niche and you make an insightful comment on a blog entry within the site.
Beyond traffic there are a few other benefits of commenting:
  • Commenting on a blog in your niche should grab the attention of the readers (then into traffic)
  • Done correctly you could build a relationship with the blogger
  • Further solidify your message and influence
  • Create some backlinks to your website

Blog Commenting Tips

One key purpose of blog commenting is to gain new readers by enticing readers another blog to visit your own blog. Here are some general tips:
  • The overall quality of the comment – ‘awesome post’ is not going to get a click. Be insightful and have opinion
  • Relevance to the topic is important. We have one comment on a large blog that get’s us at least 15 unique visits a day.
  • The top 1- 7 comments – being an early commenter – not many people read down to 30 comments
  • Keeping it current – traffic and activity is usually highest on a new post

The best practices to blog commenting

Create a list of 10 – 20 blogs that you want to follow. Put them in an RSS feed or use a tool such as comment sniper to be notified when a new post is released.
Comment as early as possible but make sure it is relevant to the post itself. Also make sure you add value to the overall conversation.
First get to know the community before you make your comments. For instance blog posts and the community at Mashable are different than blog posts on Techcrunch.

Review and Track

Every few weeks you want to go back in your website tracking software to track and review the amount of traffic or the posts that created traffic for your website.
This is a critical step, the numbers will tell you which blog posts and comments resonate with your target audience.
Also put time in your schedule to do some commenting, this helps as commenting for traffic is more a marathon approach than a one hit wonder.

Change font size of blog Header

There was a request for changing the font size to 615px. I tested that at Testing team member removal. The result wasn't pretty. I am putting a screenshot of part of the page below as obviously, I don't want the blog to remain that way and may change it anytime to its original state:

Chnange font size of Blogger blog header

Note that you can't see the whole page and there is a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom when previously, there were none.

This is the way I did it. The first thing you should do before editing or changing template is to backup the template PLUS Page Elements. Refer to Backup and edit New Blogger template and Page Elements and Backup and change New Blogger template PLUS backup Page Elements.

This is the way I did it. I opened the template editor as explained in the above 2 posts and looked for this block of code:

#header h1 {
margin:5px 5px 0;
padding:15px 20px .25em;
line-height:1.2em;
text-transform:uppercase;
letter-spacing:.2em;
font: $pagetitlefont;
}

I added font-size: 615px; to anywhere to the line of codes, for example, at the bottom as shown below:

#header h1 {
margin:5px 5px 0;
padding:15px 20px .25em;
line-height:1.2em;
text-transform:uppercase;
letter-spacing:.2em;
font: $pagetitlefont;
font-size: 615px;
}

Of course, if 615px is too large a font size for you, but you still want to change font size, you can still do it as described above, but give a different (smaller) value to the font size.

BTW, I reread the commentator's question and it appear that what she wants may be to change the graphic image width. If that is so, I may do a new post.

How to center date header and change font size

"Do you know how centre the date?????"

Open the template editor by going to Dashboard > Layout > Edit HTML and look for these codes:

/* Posts
-----------------------------------------------
*/
h2.date-header {
margin:1.5em 0 .5em;
}

and change it to

/* Posts
-----------------------------------------------
*/
h2.date-header {
margin:1.5em 0 .5em;
text-align:center;
}

and if you also want to change the font size, add this line - font-size:200% or font-size:12px; or whatever values you wish, so that the codes become

/* Posts
-----------------------------------------------
*/
h2.date-header {
margin:1.5em 0 .5em;
text-align:center;
font-size:200%;

}

How to add background picture to the sidebar

A blog reader asked about how to add background picture to the sidebar. This can be done. The first thing you need to do is to upload the picture to the Web, perhaps using the method outlined in this post Getting New Blogger to host the photo for your profile, sidebar, Header, etc. (click BACK button to get back to this page) or use a photo host like Photobucket

What you need to do to to sign into Dashboard, click LAYOUT, then click EDIT HTML and look for this block of codes:

#sidebar-wrapper {
width: 150px;
float: right;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
background:
}

Type this into the block of codes:
url(photo URL);

#sidebar-wrapper {
width: 150px;
float: right;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
background: url(photo URL);
}

You can see the result here: Dummies Test Blog. The links and wordings are a bit hard to see though because of the color. I probably have to choose another photo to demonstrate.

Change background color of New Blogger sidebar

A blogger commented that he could not find the sidebar color code in the template to change the background color of the sidebar. The CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) of every template is written different and if something is missing, all you need to do is to add the relevant missing part in.

For example, in the standard Blogger Scribe template, this is the section in the CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) for the sidebar:

#sidebar {
width:150px;
float:left;
padding:8px 0;
margin:0;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

There is nothing mentioned about background. So what I did was to add a single line

background: #FFFFFF;

(#FFFFFF is the hexadecimal color code for white) to that section, so that it became:

#sidebar {
width:150px;
float:left;
padding:8px 0;
margin:0;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
background: #FFFFFF;
}

You can see the result at Standard Blogger Scribe Template.

BTW, instead of using hexadecimal color codes like #FFFFFF, you can also use most names of colors like red, blue, white, etc. If you want to blend the color to the colors of the site, try typing the search term "colorpic" or "iconico colorpic" into the search box above, tick ( ) Web radio button and search, and I am sure you would see the link as the first result in the SERP (search engine result page) to download a very useful tool I use to get the color code of colors on any website. (I don't want to put too many outbound links as I understand outbound links can lower your PageRank).

I also find
Color Blender very useful if I want some "in-between" color or colors. If anyone is interested on how to use that site properly, just make a comment and I will do a new post on how to use it.

Why sometimes AdSense unit missing and how to fix them

Bloggers who have Google AdSense units set to display in their blogs often complained about missing AdSense units. I will use this blog to explain.

I have set the following AdSense units to display in this blog with the number of AdSense units in bracket):
  1. wide skyscraper unit in the left column (1 unit)
  2. leaderboard unit in the footer (1 unit)
  3. large rectangle in between posts (6 in the main page but only 1 in the individual post page)
Note: There should be 6 ad units in the main page or homepage) because I have set the number of posts to display in the main page to be 7 (the default).

Now in you count the total number of ad units, you will get a total of 8 ad units (1+1+6) in the main page but only 3 in theindividual post page (permalink).

Google AdSense only allows a total of 3 AdSense ad units in any page and so in the main page, the extra 5 ad units get suppressed and you only see 1 wide skyscraper unit in the left column, 1 between the first and second post and 1 between the second and third post giving a total of three.

However, in the individual post page (permalink), there is only 1 ad unit immediately after the only post, 1 in the left sidebar and 1 in the footer giving a total of 3 (allowed) units with none suppressed.

Now if you have set AdSense units to display between posts and you don't want any ad units to be suppressed and you have similar settings for the AdSense units, all you need to do is to set the number of posts to display in the main page to 1 and only 1.
